Individual & Student

This category is open to all those studying or working in transport planning, or related fields, on a professional basis, as well as to retired members. 

Members have been attracted from a wide range of organisations from the public to private sectors and from a range of educational backgrounds. We currently have approximately 900 individual and student members and our diverse membership is continuing to grow as the society develops...

There are three categories of Individual membership:

  • Student
  • Standard
  • Designated

Student Membership is for those studying transport or related fields full time.  Designated membership is for those members who hold the Transport Planning Professional (TPP) qualification, provided by the Society together with the Institution of Highways and Transportation; for more details see below. Standard membership covers all other members.

Annual fees:

Student:       Free for first year then £10 for 3 subsequent years

Standard:     £35 

Designated: £95

Membership runs from January to December each year, although if you apply from October onwards you will become a member for the following year with the rest of the current year free. Please note that payment will be collected by ICE on behalf of TPS.

How to become a Designated Member:

  • Designated Membership is for those with the Transport Planning Professional (TPP) qualification, provided by the Society together with the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT)
  • Candidates applying for the TPP must be members of the Society or CIHT, and if they are TPS members and not CIHT members they must apply for Designated Membership when they apply for award of the TPP
  • Designated Membership will not be awarded until the TPP qualification is awarded
  • In accordance with good professional practice, Designated Members are required to maintain at least 25 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) a year and to work in accordance with the Society’s Code of Professional Conduct

Updating Your Details

TPS members can amend their contact details using MyICE.  It is the secure online area for ICE and Associated Society members to view and amend their accounts.  Once logged in you can:

- Update your contact details. 

- Renew your membership by paying your subscriptions online. 

- View receipts.  You can view and print receipts for your last few years’ payments.

- Update your interests. 

To log-in, go to the ICE homepage www.ice.org.uk and click on 'Members login' in the MyICE section.  You will need to enter your surname and PIN before being taken to the MyICE index page.  If you have forgotten your PIN there will be an automated PIN reminder service available.

To register, go to the ICE homepage www.ice.org.uk and click on 'Members register' in the MyICE section.  You will be asked to enter your Surname, date of birth, e-mail address and ICE Membership number. Please note, this is where you should enter your 8 digit TPS membership number as printed on your membership card.  This data will be validated against our membership database and you will be e-mailed your PIN for MyICE.
