This category is open to all those studying or working in transport planning, or related fields, on a professional basis. 

Members have been attracted from a wide range of organisations from the public to private sectors and from a range of educational backgrounds. We currently have approximately 750 individual and student members and our diverse membership is continuing to grow as the society develops...

There are three categories of Individual membership:

  • Student
  • Standard
  • Designated

Student Membership is for those studying transport or related fields full time.  Designated membership is for those members who hold the Transport Planning Professional (TPP) qualification, provided by the Society together with the Institution of Highways and Transportation; for more details see below. Standard membership covers all other members.

Annual fees:

Student:       £10.00/free in first year of study

Standard:     £30 in 2008/£35 in 2009 

Designated: £95

How to become a Designated Member:

  • Designated Members are those who hold the Transport Planning Professional (TPP) qualification, provided by the Society together with the Institution of Highways and Transportation
  • Candidates who wish to apply for Designated Membership must first hold TPS individual membership
  • Applications for Designated Membership should be made at the same time as applications to undertake the TPP qualification. Designated Membership will not be awarded until the TPP qualification is awarded
  • In accordance with good professional practice, Designated Members are required to maintain a specified level of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and to work in accordance with the Society's Code of Professional Conduct
